3/15/10 - The latest buzz
There are lots of new things going on these days. I am arranging and orchestrating 10 songs for Roberta Spindel, an up and coming Brazilian singer. After a couple of weeks preparing demos, I went to Rio to meet her and the legendary producer Max Pierre. I also got to hang out with my good friend Moogie Canazio, who is one of the greatest sound engineers on the planet. We had a couple of great sessions, where I presented my ideas for the music, and worked out the details to finish everything before we lay down the tracks in April.
I'm also orchestrating a wonderful review titled "The Art of Steven Sondheim" for the Viewpoint Conservatory of Theater. It features great music from many of Sondhiem's musicals including Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Company. The music has been beautifully tied together with a fun and compelling biographical script, written and directed by Jan de Sal. It runs from Apr 23-25 at the Carlson Theater at Viewpoint School in Calabasas.

4/20/09 - TV Land Awards Show
I played keyboards for the TV Land Awards Show at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal Studios. The awards went to some of my favorite shows from my childhood through my adulthood. The winners included: M*A*S*H, Home Improvement, Magnum P.I., Knot's Landing, and E.R. There were special awards for Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and Don Rickels. The band was slamming, and directed by Rickey Minor, who's arguably the best on the planet for these shows, and now I know why. It was truly a blessing to be a part of it. There was also a special tribute to Sid & Marty Krofft with a big production number featuring the music and characters from H.R Pufnstuf, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Lidsville, etc. Also appearing were Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Matthew McConaughey, and Earth, Wind and Fire. This was a special show on many levels for me, as it brought back so many memories from the different phases of my life. It will be air on TV Land on Apr. 29th. I hope you check it out!
